The Contact Network – Cochlear Implant users supporting candidates and their families

This programme, which was launched in June 2004, provides support and resources to cochlear implant candidates and users. In collaboration with Advanced Bionics, volunteers have the opportunity to share their first-hand experience of cochlear implants.  They offer support to candidates during the process of getting a cochlear implant and assistance to implant recipients and their families in the challenge of adapting to their new life. Contact Networkers also participate in a number of activities aimed at increasing public awareness of cochlear implants. 

The UK Contact Network currently has 24 volunteer Contact Networkers from all walks of life and all ages. Members include cochlear implant users, parents and partners, each with their own unique story to share.
