Acoustic feedback The whistle or howl caused when amplified sound recycles into the microphone of an amplifying system, such as a hearing aid or a public address system.

Amplitude Amplitude describes the magnitude of a signal.

Analog A signal or waveform that as continuous, non-discrete variations in amplitude, as in the real-time acoustic speech signal.

Audiogram Graphic display to represent hearing sensitivity (detection levels) at different frequencies. Intensity, from low to high, is plotted top to bottom. Frequency, from low to high, is plotted from left to right. The frequencies in the speech spectrum (125 - 8000 Hz) are typically tested and displayed.

Audio-Mixing Audio-mixing allows the headpiece microphone to remain active when connected directly to an external audio-input, such as an FM system, radio, stereo or Walkman. This is important in order for the individual to hear his own voice and sounds around him in .

Automatic Gain Control (AGC) Dual Action AGC applies different compression parameters to loud and soft inputs in order to protect the user from loud transient sound while simultaneously providing appropriate gain to softer inputs such as speech.

In the CLARION system, the comp
