Infectious meningitis causes deafness as the result of an extension of the infection from labrynth to meninges. Mondini congenital malformation of the inner ear : incomplete development of a flattened cochlea (only a single basal coil). Monopolar stimulation
A mode of electrical stimulation in which single selected electrodes in the electrode array are active and share a common ground/reference eletrode. Multiple Pulsatile Sampler (MPS) With Multiple Pulsatile Sampler processing, “sets” of two or more electrodes fire simultaneously. For example, in Paired Pulsatile Sampler, pulses are sent to two electrode positions simultaneously in rapid sequence. Compared to CIS, the PPS strategy doubles the overall stimulation rate to 13,000 pulses per second. |
