HiRes 90K® IMPLANT
The implanted electronics are the most important part of a cochlear implant system because they are not replaceable without surgery.
They determine how much sound information and details the system is capable of delivering to the hearing nerve.
They are responsible for receiving digitised sound information from the sound processor and sending signals through the electrodes to the hearing nerve.

Speed and Flexibility
HiResolution Sound is today’s newest and latest generation of cochlear implant sound processing technology. Supported by the power and speed of the HiRes 90K, HiResolution sound delivers detailed sound information at very high speeds for a richer and more robust representation of sound in the real world environment.
The HiRes 90K treats 90,000 information updates coming from the Sound Processor per second -hence its name-and delivers information at a speed of up to 83,000 stimulations per second - the fastest speed in the cochlear implant field. This makes the HiRes 90K the most versatile, flexible and sophisticated cochlear implant technology today and it has the processing capacity to accept tomorrow’s innovations through simple software upgrades.
Bi-directional telemetry and Sophisticated electronics
The HiRes 90K implant incorporates Advanced Bionics’ unique bi-directional telemetry, a vital communication link between the implant and the processor and a real time safety feature that constantly monitors and reports on the status of the implanted electronics. It has been packaged in a hermetically sealed titanium housing that protects its sophisticated internal electronics from impact and trauma.
The HiRes 90K includes a series of objective measures such as Electrically Evoked Stapedius Reflex Threshold (ESRT) and Neural Response Imaging (NRI).
With a removable magnet the HiRes 90K provides the reassurance that medical examinations such as Magnetic Resonance Imagery (MRI) is possible. |
