The Harmony System has a unique electronic platform based on 16 independent power sources. This allows the implant to steer current between the 16 electrode contacts delivering sound up to 120 stimulation sites.  This HiRes Fidelity 120 speech processing strategy is specific for the Harmony cochlear implant system and has been designed to enhance music perception and understanding in noisy situations.

Since the beginning, Advanced Bionics invested in the in-house development of rechargeable batteries. In addition to being environmentally friendly, they are cost-effective, long-lasting and very simple to use. Internal  know-how allows the simultaneous development of new more powerful processing strategies along with increasing battery life.

This Advanced Bionics in-the-ear microphone, unique to Advanced Bionics takes advantage of the natural shape of the ear, which nature designed for improved hearing in noise and enhanced directional hearing.

The Harmony System, with its dual-loop Automatic Gain Control and the widest  Input Dynamic Range on the market (up to 95 dB), continually monitors and processes incoming signals, maximising performance in any listening situation.  This process happens automatically, without the need to adjust any controls on the processor.

 

The HiRes 90K implant has unmatched capability, due to its high reliability (>99% after three years) runs the most advanced sound processing strategies available today, and thanks to its “headroom” it is ready for future developments. Patients can receive future software upgrades and increase performance capability without additional surgery.

 

 

The Harmony System incorporates Advanced Bionics’ unique bi-directional telemetry, a vital communication link between the implant and the processor.  This safety feature constantly monitors and reports on the status of the implanted electronics, using sophisticated objective measures. The visual diagnostic LED on the Harmony ensures the best safety, especially among young children, whilst The unique IntelliLink™ feature avoids speech processors accidentally getting mixed up between users.

 

The Harmony System can process information at a rate of 83000 pulse/sec.  That’s almost twice the speed capable of any other device in the market and allows  individuals to exploit their maximum possibilities in terms of performance.

 

The Harmony processor has been tested for water proof and dust resistance receiving an IP47. This makes Harmony one of the most robust processors on the market, explaining why Advanced Bionics has a very low  return rate of Harmony processors with moisture-related problems.

 

Advanced Bionics recently introduced new connectivity options, including an in-built telecoil and the i-Connect, which allows the use of widely commercially available wireless FM receivers.
