Aim
‘A Musical Journey through the Rainforest’ is a (re)habilitation resource that illustrates an exciting approach to developing early literacy, musical and speech and language skills in children.
All the materials will encourage children to listen and discriminate speech and music, develop new language, read key words, sing and play instruments and participate in a range of activities at an appropriate level. A key element of this resource is to provide a structured series of training exercises for the voice, which are set in a natural musical context, aiming to motivate and engage the child. As all children progress at different rates, clear goals are included in the booklet in order for you to assess a child’s progress.
This interactive resource aims to give you the confidence to use your own musical ideas in different books, and to create songs with children. It illustrates how basic musical instruments can be used in an effective and constructive way to enhance listening, language and reading. If you do not have the instruments you can listen to them on the CD.
