Clinical Research Scientist

Location: European headquarters or other European offices (UK, Germany, Belgium)

Clinical Research Scientist

Location: European headquarters or other European offices (UK, Germany, Belgium)
 
Responsibilities:
  • Designs and implements clinical studies consistent with Clinical Research plans to investigate particular features of a new technology, device, therapy, or indication
  • Determines study objective, strategy, scope and schedule in order to support business needs
  • Develops the supporting documents in consultation with investigators and the Clinical Research team as appropriate for the clinical project
  • Designs and develops Case Report Forms and assures adequate database preparation
  • Reviews clinical and technical information and assures data correction; prepares meeting materials for training meetings, investigator meetings
  • Interfaces with, and assures training of investigators, clinic staff and Advanced Bionics field staff
  • Develops a high level of professional scientific, technical and clinical expertise through familiarity with relevant literature, by attending scientific meetings, and by interacting with various experts or institutes
  • Prepares abstracts for conference submissions
  • Co-authors (or supports investigator authorship of) study results in the literature; presents at scientific meetings
  • Assures the conduct of site monitoring visits and the timely receipt of accurate data and other study documents
  • Evaluates clinical data, provides interim and final reports, convenes investigator meetings
  • Assist in acquiring the necessary approvals needed before study starts, including insurance policy approvals, ethics approvals, clinic R&D approvals and government approval where necessary. 

Qualifications and skills:

  • University level or equivalent in engineering, biological sciences or related medical/scientific field
  • 2-4 years experience directly supporting clinical research or similar experience in a medical/scientific area
  • Fluency in English and ideally in an additional European language
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills: telephone / face-to-face / written
  • Rigorous with the ability to organise, prioritize and work in a multi-task way
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Expertise with regulatory compliance guidelines for clinical trials
  • Knowledge of clinical study design
  • Familiarity with statistical techniques for data analysis
  • Team player but able to work autonomously and to take initiatives
  • Customer oriented and quality focused
  • Energetic, dynamic and enthusiastic
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to deal with periods of intense pressure and unexpected priorities
  • Willingness to travel (up to 50% of time).
